About Terrace Pipes and Drums:

Terrace Pipes and Drums Society was formed in 1973 to promote Scottish culture, and to provide music for ceremonial occasions and celebrations. We are a non-competitive, community performance based organization.
The members of the band wear the Cameron of Erracht tartan, with the formal "Prince Charlie" dinner Jackets, Black Lovatt hose, and glengarry bonnets. The pipers own and supply their own bagpipes and practice chanters, although there are some bagpipes available for loan. Drums, music, matched chanters and uniforms are provided by the organization. Please contact our Quartermaster Chris Gair for more information regarding our equipment and uniforms.
The band is self sponsored, but receives support and funding from organizations such as the Terrace and District Arts Council, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13, Web North Marketing, Terrace automall.com and Onsight Embroidery
and many other organizations and private citizens

Performance:
Terrace Pipes and Drums Society is the only the only Pipe Band in the Pacific Northwest. They have provided Scottish music entertainment from Prince Rupert to Granisle, from Whitehorse and Stewart to Kitimat. The band performs 15 to 30 times per year, in opening ceremonies, parades, weddings, birthdays, and/or funerals to share the Scottish culture and add ceremonial pomp and circumstance.
The band has also represented the community of Terrace beyond their Northwest border, attending highland games in Prince George, Quesnel, Kelowna and Kamloops.

Music Education:
The Terrace Pipes and Drums strive to support and teach the Scottish art of bagpiping, tenor and bass drumming, and snare drumming. We provide local experienced teachers to give weekly lessons, teach as a group at our weekly band rehearsal, provide opportunity for our students to attend bagpiping and drumming music camps, sponsor distance lessons with a master instructor, and organize local workshops with professional music educators.
The Terrace Pipes and Drums Society encourage the participation of new members, both inexperienced or otherwise, young, or more life experienced. Please contact our band manager Vicki for further information and piping lessons, and Barry for drumming lessons.
Promoting Scottish Culture:
Robbie Burns' Dinner and Dance
The Terrace Pipes and Drums promote Scottish culture by hosting an annual Robbie Burns' dinner and dance. We hold our event in January to celebrate the Bard's birthday. During this event, which is open to all ages, we offer traditional Scottish fare and ceremony respectful of Robbie Burns.
We include in the Burns' night an opportunity for our band to share it's music, and provide an opportunity for our students to show their newly acquired skills.
We also take opportunity at this event to award the most promising musician award. The recipient of this award is not necessarily the best musician, but instead one who has shown the most dedication, improvement and enthusiasm during the prior year.
Tickets for the annual Robbie Burns Dinner and Dance, held every January on the Bard's birthday weekend, can be purchased from any band member or the band manager.
Camaraderie
The Terrace Pipes and Drums Society offers music, and through that love of Highland Bagpipes and Drums, friendships form that can last a life time.
Practice Location and Time:
The Terrace Pipes and Drums practice every Monday night from 7pm to 9:00 pm at the Skeena Middle School band room. It is located at 3411 Munroe Street. New members are always welcome! At this time of Covid restrictions, the pipe band is conducting practices via Zoom.
